HISTORY

The restaurant takes its name from the old nickname for Nikolaj Plads which, in the 19 th century, was home to the city’s butchers’ market. This was popularly known as the “Maven”, which is the Danish word for “stomach”.

The butchers’ stalls may have gone but the informal charm is still here.

Maven (pronounced ‘Maywen’) – the restaurant and wine bar is an unpretentious eating place right in the middle of the city. We serve quality wines and beers at honest prices with classic homemade food cooked with the best ingredients.
